Afghans Deprived of Rights Guaranteed Under UN Charter

DID Press: Nasir Ahmad Faiq has warned that Afghan citizens are being denied rights guaranteed under the United Nations Charter, calling on the international community to take practical action in response to the country’s worsening human rights situation.

Speaking on the condition of women and young people in Afghanistan, Faiq described the current human rights environment as deeply concerning, arguing that widespread and systematic restrictions continue under Taliban rule.

He said Afghan citizens are being deprived of fundamental rights clearly enshrined in the UN Charter, particularly women who face extensive limitations on education, employment, and participation in public life.

Faiq also highlighted the shrinking opportunities available to Afghanistan’s youth, warning that the continued erosion of rights and freedoms could have long-term consequences for the country’s social and economic future.

The Afghan representative urged the United Nations and the broader international community not to limit their response to expressions of concern, but to pursue effective measures aimed at protecting the rights of the Afghan people.

He further warned that the ongoing situation could deepen Afghanistan’s humanitarian and social crises, placing the future of an entire generation at serious risk.
