DID Press: Media reports say Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever with a pistol during the sidelines of a NATO summit, drawing attention after the diplomatic gift was opened upon the Belgian delegation’s return home.
According to the reports, the gift package remained unopened until the delegation arrived in Belgium. When it was opened, officials reportedly found a pistol along with ammunition inside.
The firearm was subsequently handed over to airport police, reports said. Belgian authorities have not yet announced how the weapon will be handled or whether any further action will be taken.
