DID Press: France has activated a nationwide emergency heat plan for the first time as an intense heatwave, rising wildfire risks, and red weather alerts affect several parts of the country.

According to international media reports, the French government implemented the emergency response as the country faces its third major heatwave of the year, with temperatures continuing to rise across many regions.
The plan is designed to protect elderly people, children, patients, and other vulnerable groups while strengthening the preparedness of emergency and healthcare services.
French authorities said temperatures have climbed to around 40°C in some areas, while the risk of wildfires—particularly in southern France—has increased significantly.
As a result, access to parts of forests and natural areas has been restricted, and firefighting and emergency response teams have been placed on high alert.
Cooling centers have also been opened for residents, especially vulnerable people. Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day, stay hydrated, and follow official safety guidance.
Climate experts say the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme heatwaves across Europe are linked to global warming and warn that such events are likely to become more common in the coming years.
