DID Press: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its recent attacks in Kuwait were directed exclusively at U.S. military installations, stressing that they were not aimed at Kuwait’s sovereignty or territorial integrity. The claims have not been independently verified.
In Statement No. 44, the IRGC said it carried out drone strikes against Ali Al Salem Air Base, claiming to have destroyed a large military equipment depot, a Patriot air defense system, and a hangar housing MQ-9 Reaper drones in response to what it described as U.S. military actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement further claimed that facilities housing U.S. personnel and two helicopter hangars at Camp Adairi were also struck, alleging casualties among American forces and significant damage to helicopters and drones. The IRGC additionally said it targeted a communications tower in retaliation for reported U.S. strikes on communications infrastructure inside Iran.
Addressing the Kuwaiti public, the IRGC said it fully respects Kuwait’s independence and territorial integrity, arguing that its operations were aimed solely at areas “occupied by the U.S. military” within Kuwait.
The statement described U.S. military bases in the region as territories operating under American jurisdiction, claiming they function independently of the host country’s legal and administrative authority.
The IRGC also referred to what it described as the deaths of 168 schoolchildren during the opening phase of the conflict in Minab, alleging that some of the attacks were launched from U.S. bases in Kuwait. It said Iran considers targeting American military facilities a “legal and legitimate” response to attacks against its territory.
