Herat Set to Receive Natural Gas Through TAPI Network

DID Press: Taliban authorities say preparations are underway to deliver natural gas directly to homes and industrial facilities in Herat as construction of the TAPI gas pipeline advances through western Afghanistan.

Local officials said work has begun on planning the city’s natural gas distribution network alongside the progress of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) pipeline.

The urban gas distribution project is valued at $420 million and is expected to extend natural gas services across Herat, according to Taliban authorities.

Officials said the project is designed to strengthen Afghanistan’s energy infrastructure while creating thousands of jobs and supporting industrial growth and broader economic development in the province.

The TAPI pipeline is one of the region’s largest energy infrastructure projects, intended to transport natural gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India.
