Pope Leo XIV Urges Return to Diplomacy as Middle East Tensions Escalate

DID Press: Pope Leo XIV has renewed his call for peace in the Middle East, urging all parties to end hostilities and return to diplomacy amid growing concerns over the humanitarian consequences of the escalating conflict.

In a message posted on X, the pontiff warned that the continued fighting is causing widespread destruction and placing civilian lives at increasing risk. He said attacks on civilian infrastructure have worsened shortages of essential services, including water and electricity.

Pope Leo XIV called on all sides to halt military operations immediately and resume dialogue in pursuit of a lasting and peaceful resolution to the crisis.

His appeal comes as regional tensions continue to rise, with reports of damage to civilian infrastructure during the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
