Taliban Reports Restoration of 32 Historic Sites Across Afghanistan

DID Press: Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture has announced the restoration of 32 historical monuments, the identification of 44 archaeological sites, and the rehabilitation of hundreds of cultural artifacts across Afghanistan over the past year.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, said the ministry had restored and preserved 32 historical structures in various parts of the country as part of efforts to protect Afghanistan’s cultural heritage.

Mujahid added that authorities had identified 44 archaeological locations during the same period and were working on registering and protecting these sites.

According to the Taliban spokesperson, the ministry also restored 202 movable historical artifacts and transferred 1,695 archaeological items to museums for preservation and protection.

He further claimed that authorities had prevented the smuggling of 134 historical and archaeological artifacts, which were confiscated and handed over to relevant institutions.

Mujahid described the measures as part of the Taliban’s efforts to safeguard Afghanistan’s cultural heritage, saying that work to identify, restore, and preserve historical sites, while preventing illegal excavations and artifact trafficking, would continue.
