DID Press: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that countries involved in supporting what it called “aggression” would face a “severe response,” while claiming full control over maritime activity in the Strait of Hormuz.
In its statement No. 54, the IRGC said two oil tankers attempting to leave through what it described as an “unsafe route” south of the Strait of Hormuz were forced to retreat after one vessel suffered a major fire.
The statement claimed the tankers were operating under the influence of “American aircraft” and said the incident demonstrated Iran’s control over the strategic waterway.
The IRGC emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz was under the control of Iranian naval forces and warned that foreign involvement in regional maritime operations would not be tolerated.
The force also stated that the waterway would remain closed as long as what it called “threats and interference by US officials” continued, warning that such actions could further complicate the security situation in the region.
