UNAMA Renews Call for Taliban to Lift Education Restrictions on Afghan Girls
DID Press: United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has again urged the Taliban to remove restrictions on girls’ education, stressing that access to education at all levels, including information technology, is a fundamental right and essential to Afghanistan’s future.

During a visit to Istalif District, Georgette Gagnon underscored the importance of ensuring girls have access to education and digital skills, according to UNAMA.
The UN mission said education is a fundamental human right and a key driver of development, economic prosperity and long-term stability in Afghanistan.
UNAMA called on the Taliban authorities to lift education restrictions and ensure that girls are able to attend school and pursue higher education without discrimination.
