Pakistan, China Reaffirm Cooperation Against Militant Threats from Afghanistan

DID Press: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation to address security threats emanating from Afghanistan, with a particular focus on militant groups that both countries regard as regional security concerns.

Mohammad Sadiq said he met with Yue Xiaoyong and the accompanying Chinese delegation in Islamabad on Monday.

According to Sadiq, the two sides reviewed regional security developments and discussed threats posed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, which they said operate from Afghan territory.

He added that Pakistan and China agreed to deepen bilateral coordination, expand joint counterterrorism cooperation, and work together to promote regional peace, security and stability.
