Pakistan Bars Afghan Medical Graduates from National Licensing Exam

DID Press: Pakistan’s Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has announced that Pakistani citizens who graduated from medical and dental universities and institutions in Afghanistan will not be eligible to sit for the country’s National Registration Examination (NRE).

According to a statement issued by the council, only graduates of foreign medical institutions listed by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) will be allowed to take the examination required for registration in Pakistan.

The council said that, at present, none of Afghanistan’s medical universities or institutions are included on the approved list.

The decision effectively blocks Pakistani graduates of Afghan medical institutions from entering Pakistan’s healthcare system and has raised concerns among hundreds of affected graduates over their professional futures.
