DID Press: United States has significantly depleted its stockpile of long-range precision missiles during five months of conflict with Iran, raising concerns about its ability to respond to future crises involving major powers such as Russia and China, The Telegraph has reported.
According to the report, Washington has expended a substantial number of its Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM), both of which have been used in strikes against targets inside Iran as well as during the war in Ukraine. Each missile is estimated to cost more than $1 million, and the decline in inventories could force the Pentagon to rely more heavily on manned air operations.
U.S. President Donald Trump, however, has dismissed concerns over ammunition shortages, saying the United States possesses “far more munitions than it needs” and that defense manufacturers are expanding production at an unprecedented pace.
Despite those assurances, military analysts warn that a prolonged conflict could further erode U.S. reserves of strategic missiles and air defense systems, including Patriot interceptor missiles. Reports also indicate that the depletion of key munitions has become a major topic of discussion within the U.S. administration and is influencing military planning regarding continued operations against Iran.
