Afghanistan; the World’s Healthiest Country
Researchers analyzed World Health Organization data on alcohol consumption, tobacco consumption and the prevalence of obesity in 179 countries.
Researchers from the UK’s “Compare” Clinic, using World Health Organization data on alcohol consumption, smoking and obesity in each country, listed the world’s healthiest and most unhealthy countries.
According to the researchers, the Czech Republic is the unhealthiest country in the world, followed by Russia, Slovenia, Belarus, Slovakia, and Hungary.
The research found Russia to be the second unhealthiest country, followed by Slovenia, Belarus, Slovakia, and Hungary.
Eastern Europe states are reportedly the least healthy region in the world, occupying nine out of the top 10 spots.
The healthiest country was Afghanistan, where consumption and possession of alcohol is illegal. The rate of obesity is also low: 2.7 per cent of Afghanistan’s population had a BMI over 30.
Guinea was named the second healthiest country, followed by Niger and Nepal.
