DID Press: At least 18 suspected militants have been killed in several joint operations by Pakistan’s army and security forces amid intensified militant activity in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to Pakistani authorities.

The Pakistani army and security forces, acting on intelligence information, carried out a major operation in the Shorpar area of Khuzdar district in Balochistan province. In the heavy clashes, which took place on three separate fronts, 10 militants were killed and several others were wounded. A clearance operation to locate and arrest those who fled the area is still underway.
The operation came a day after a failed attack on the convoy of Mir Ziaullah Langau, Balochistan’s interior minister. The attack left nine people wounded, including seven police officers.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported that another eight militants affiliated with Baloch separatist groups were killed in the Sorab area of Balochistan.
