Last US Aircraft Carrier Leaves Pacific for Middle East

DID Press: The Associated Press reported that the USS George Washington, a US aircraft carrier deployed in the Pacific, has begun moving toward the Middle East, amid pressure on the US carrier fleet’s operational capacity caused by the war against Iran.

The Associated Press reported that the USS George Washington, a US aircraft carrier stationed in the Pacific, has begun its movement toward the Middle East.

The deployment comes as the war against Iran has placed significant pressure on the operational capacity of the US aircraft carrier fleet.

According to the report, the George Washington is expected to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been on mission for more than 260 days and has spent an extended period without a port call.

The prolonged deployment has raised concerns about the morale, welfare and working conditions of the Lincoln’s crew.

With the George Washington leaving, the western Pacific will for a period be without a US aircraft carrier — a gap that takes on particular significance amid increased Chinese military activity in the region, including in disputed waters.
