Trump Administration Weighs 3,000-Child Migrant Detention Facility

DID Press: Trump administration is considering establishing a large-scale facility to house unaccompanied migrant children as part of its broader crackdown on immigration and efforts to accelerate deportation proceedings.

According to reports, the proposed center would operate as an “emergency intake facility” and could accommodate thousands of migrant children.

The plan under consideration would provide capacity for about 3,000 children, with several children expected to share individual rooms.

The U.S. government has not yet announced the final location of the proposed facility. However, reports indicate that Washington is preparing the contractual arrangements needed to establish the center.

The proposal comes amid the Trump administration’s broader efforts to tighten immigration enforcement, expand detention capacity and speed up the processing and removal of migrants.
