Afghanistan Embassy Protests Expulsion of Medical Students from Pakistan

DID Press: Afghanistan Embassy in Islamabad has condemned the decision by Pakistan’s medical council to expel Afghan medical students and called for the immediate suspension of the process and intervention by international organizations.

In a statement, the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad expressed deep concern over the recent decision by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to cancel the registration of Afghan students and expel them from medical programs.

The diplomatic mission warned that the measure could cause irreversible damage to the educational futures of students who are on the verge of graduation.

The embassy said in its statement that educational institutions and international organizations should intervene to protect the rights of the affected students.

The decision has drawn strong criticism from officials in Kabul and human rights organizations, including Amnesty International.

Amnesty International has described the move as “discriminatory and arbitrary” and stressed that it poses a serious threat to the future of Afghan female students.
