Muttaqi Calls for Expanded Relations Between Taliban and Bangladesh

DID Press: Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister, has called for stronger political, economic and cultural cooperation between Kabul and Dhaka during a meeting with a Bangladeshi delegation of religious scholars, businessmen and industrialists.

According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muttaqi highlighted investment and trade opportunities in Afghanistan and described the country’s security situation as conducive to economic activity.

Members of the Bangladeshi delegation also expressed interest in taking advantage of the economic opportunities available in Afghanistan. Recent reports said the delegation had also discussed expanding trade and investment with Afghanistan’s economy minister.

The Taliban Foreign Ministry said both sides stressed the importance of diplomatic and commercial exchanges in expanding bilateral relations and cooperation.

The meeting comes as the Taliban seeks to expand economic diplomacy and attract foreign investment.
