Pakistan Claims 13 Taliban Fighters Killed in Border Clash

DID Press: Pakistan has claimed that at least 13 Taliban personnel were killed and several others wounded in overnight clashes along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, while Kabul has rejected the account and presented a different version of the confrontation.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said the clash took place during the night of September 24–25 in the Gulistan sector along the border. Islamabad said its forces repelled what it described as an attempted attack from the Afghan side and subsequently targeted Taliban positions.

The ministry claimed that at least 13 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed and several others wounded during the fighting. Pakistan also rejected Afghanistan’s claim that a Pakistani military post near Spin Boldak had been destroyed.

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense, however, said Afghan forces had targeted and destroyed a Pakistani military post near Spin Boldak after Pakistani forces opened fire toward Afghanistan. The ministry said Afghan forces suffered no casualties and described Pakistan’s account as propaganda.

The competing claims have not been independently verified, and the two sides have provided conflicting accounts of both the circumstances of the clash and the casualties.

The latest confrontation comes amid renewed tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, following a series of cross-border attacks and accusations between Kabul and Islamabad. Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Taliban of allowing militant groups to operate from Afghan territory, while the Taliban rejects the allegations.
