Taliban: More Than 4 Million Jeribs of Land Reclaimed in Four Years

DID Press: Taliban’s Ministry of Justice says more than 4 million jeribs of land across the country have been identified as state-owned and reclaimed over the past four years, including land belonging to 49 townships in 14 provinces.

Barakatullah Rasouli, a spokesman for the ministry, said the land was declared state property after authorities reviewed ownership documents and other evidence. He said most of the land is located in Kabul, Balkh, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Helmand and Kandahar provinces.

According to the ministry, land in 15 townships in Kabul, 10 in Balkh and seven in Nangarhar has been declared state-owned either fully or partially.

The ministry also said about 1,428 jeribs in the Shahr-e Naw township of Maidan Wardak and more than 4,000 jeribs across three townships in Ghazni were included in the reclamation decisions.

The Taliban-run Ministry of Justice said cases involving dozens of other townships remain under review.

However, ownership disputes remain over some of the land. Some owners say they purchased their properties through legal procedures and possess documents supporting their ownership.

The continuation of the process could affect property ownership records and existing investments in the townships.
