DID Press: Hossein Mohebi, a spokesman for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said that all U.S. naval vessels have withdrawn from the Persian Gulf and are now at least 500 km from the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
Speaking to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Mohebi said that 30 to 40 U.S. warships had been present in the Persian Gulf before the “Ramadan war,” but that the situation had now completely changed.
He said that “not even a single U.S. vessel” remains in the Persian Gulf and said there are also no ships or small vessels at the U.S. Fifth Fleet, based in Bahrain, whose vessels operate in the Persian Gulf.
Mohebi further said that U.S. vessels are now at least 500 km from the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf. He described recent U.S. threats as an attempt to portray what he called an “obvious defeat” as a victory.
Referring to a message issued by Iran’s Supreme Leader the previous day, Mohebi also said that the United States would soon withdraw from the Arabian Sea, adding that the U.S. military lacks the capacity and structure for sustained, prolonged warfare.
