DID Press: UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Afghanistan has announced that the “Forsat” programme is being implemented in Bamyan province with the aim of strengthening local communities. UN-Habitat says its Afghanistan programmes include livelihood opportunities and community-based infrastructure support.

According to the agency, with support from the UN Secretary-General’s Special Trust Fund, a cash-for-work scheme has been launched in Bamyan. The programme provides livelihood opportunities while simultaneously improving infrastructure and the environment in local communities.

The agency said around 2,000 people will participate in the programme and receive wages in return for their daily work.
