DID Press: Yemen’s Sanaa armed forces have taken control of the strategic Rasun mountain range in Taiz province, Al Mayadeen reported.

The mountainous area overlooks a key route linking Taiz with Lahj and Aden, as fighting has increasingly focused on roads and high ground south of Taiz. The location is strategically important because its elevated terrain provides visibility over surrounding routes and can affect the movement of forces and supply lines.
Taiz’s importance is largely geographic. The province lies between northern Yemen, Saudi-backed government-held areas in the south, and the Red Sea coast. Its mountain roads and strategic passes play an important role in movement between these areas.
If Sanaa-aligned forces consolidate control over Taiz, their position in northern Yemen could be further strengthened, while their access to key southern supply routes and leverage against Saudi-backed forces around the city could increase.
