Afghanistan to Equip All Rural Taxis With GPS

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced the start of a program to equip all rural and intercity taxis with GPS tracking systems.

The ministry said it has signed a contract with a private company to install global positioning systems in all such taxis. Under the plan, rural taxis will be equipped with GPS in the same way as passenger and freight vehicles.

According to the ministry, the initiative is aimed at improving the monitoring, management and tracking of vehicles across Afghanistan.

The ministry has previously announced the installation of GPS systems in thousands of passenger and freight vehicles throughout the country.
