Russia Calls for Resolution of Afghanistan-Pakistan Tensions
DID Press: Russia’s ambassador to Islamabad has called for a resolution to tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, warning that the continued closure of trade routes between the two countries is damaging regional commerce and affecting Pakistan’s trade with Russia and Central Asian countries.

Albert Khorev, Russia’s ambassador to Pakistan, said the prolonged closure of trade routes had reduced bilateral trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan and negatively affected Pakistan’s commercial links with Russia and Central Asia.Khorev warned that the situation could create further obstacles to the movement of goods and regional economic cooperation.
He said resolving disagreements between Kabul and Islamabad was important for the wider region and expressed hope that the two countries would reopen trade routes and resume economic exchanges.Meanwhile, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan has reported a sharp decline in bilateral trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan, with its value falling from $1.3 billion to approximately $358 million.
The continued closure of border crossings has hurt businesses on both sides and disrupted regional supply routes, raising concerns about the wider economic consequences of the ongoing tensions.
