Russia Says Pashto Could Help Ease Afghanistan-Pakistan Tensions

DID Press: Russian Embassy in Pakistan says the Pashto language could play an effective role in promoting mutual understanding and reconciliation between Afghanistan and Pakistan amid tensions between the neighboring countries.

On October 27, the Russian Embassy hosted the launch of the book Advanced Practical Pashto Grammar. The event was attended by Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev, the Taliban administration’s representative in Pakistan, Sardar Ahmad Shakib, the book’s author, Hafiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, as well as university professors and media representatives.

The Russian ambassador described the initiative as part of Moscow’s efforts to encourage dialogue and help resolve differences between Kabul and Islamabad.

“Pashto can become the language of reconciliation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, just as Russian can become the language of reconciliation between Russia and Ukraine,” Khorev said.

The remarks highlight the potential role of cultural and linguistic ties in promoting dialogue and easing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, whose relations have faced repeated challenges in recent years.
