DID Press: UN Security Council’s Sanctions Committee has granted a temporary exemption from the travel ban to Mullah Abdul Haq Wasiq, the Taliban’s director general of intelligence, to travel to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, for medical treatment.

According to a statement by the committee, the exemption was approved on October 19, 2026, and is valid from October 20 to November 3, 2026.

Under the exemption, Wasiq is permitted to travel to the UAE during the specified period to receive medical treatment.

Mullah Abdul Haq Wasiq is among the Taliban officials listed under United Nations Security Council sanctions. Under these sanctions, the assets of designated individuals are frozen, foreign travel is prohibited, and the sale or transfer of weapons to them is banned.

Case-specific exemptions, including those for medical travel, are granted with the approval of the Security Council’s Sanctions Committee.
