A handball field with global standards opened in western Herat province with the cooperation of the physical education and the University of the province, according to provincial officials.

“Opening this field can have a positive effect on handball and beneficial for youths in the province,” said Ramin Mohammady, the chairman of Herat’s handball federation.
“This is the first international handball field opened in Herat province,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that athletes had been playing handball in gymnasiums before.
