IEC Creates Database for Voter Registration

After fourteen days since the start of voter registration process, the election commission says it has finally succeeded in preparing a database for the registration process.
Before the database, the commission collected statistics on voter registration through emails and phone calls. Now, the provincial heads of the institution can update data on a daily basis.

“The login password has been prepared for IEC offices in all 34 provinces and from now on, all provinces will access the system and enter the data,” election commissioner Maliha Hassan said on Saturday.\

Ms. Hassan said only the number of voters who register daily in a province will be added to the database but adding photographs from the voter registration books is not possible right now due to slow internet services.
“In the next step, books will be provided to district offices from which they will take pictures to enter it in the system,” she added.

Yet, IEC statistics show that over 650,000 people have registered in the past 14 days across the country.

Kabul has been at the top of the list while Nuristan province, is at the bottom of the list with the lowest number of voters in the past 14 days.
