Reports indicate that Afghan IEC’s commissioners will be sacked after the announcement of the parliamentary elections results.
Some sources revealed that the Afghan government and the international community agreed over a new team to manage the presidential elections due to be held on 20 July 2019.
After the announcement of the parliamentary election results that were held on 20 October 2018, the members of the independent election commission (IEC) will be removed, the source added.
A source from the presidential palace emphasised that reforms will take place within the leadership of the IEC, during which, its leaders may change.
This comes as the leaders of the NUG have not officially commented. Zabihullah Sadat, the deputy spokesman to the IEC said that the selection committee has the jurisdiction to comment on the issue.
