At least nine Afghan security force were killed in a Taliban attack last night in Faryab province, local officials said Thursday.
“Taliban insurgents attacked several check posts in Chaghatak village of Almar district at around 9 pm, killing 9 security forces,” said Mohammad Saleh Saleh, Almar district governor. “15 other soldiers wounded in the event.”
According to Saleh, the Taliban insurgents also suffered casualties.
Meanwhile, at least 14 Afghan National Army soldiers were killed and four others wounded in a Taliban attack in northern Kunduz province last night,” local officials said Thursday.
Clashes between the security forces and Taliban insurgents took place in Dasht-e Archi’s Qarluq village when militants stormed an army base.
Local officials have confirmed the attack but deny to make a comment about the causalities.
Country’s security forces suffer heavy casualties a day after the insurgent group announced the launch of its spring offensive under the name of “Al-Khandaq”.
On Wednesday, the group said the offensive will be focused on the killing of U.S. and Afghan security and intelligence forces but Afghanistan Defense Ministry called it a “propaganda”.
