“12 former members of election commissions and electoral complaints commission, including their heads have been banned from leaving the country,” attorney general office said in a statement late Tuesday. “investigators had been appointed to look into charges of abuse of authority”.
Meanwhile, the commissioners said in a joint statement that “this is a political decision, not a legal or constitutional one”.
“The attorney general office of the Islamic republic of Afghanistan has tasked a delegation to investigate heads and former members of the independent election commission and the electoral complaints commission on charges of abuse of authority,” the statement read.
