Afghan Girl Robotics Team Wins CSIC award
Afghanistan Girl Robotic team won the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge (CSIC) award at the fourth annual Raw Science Film Festival.
“I am pleased to announce that Afghan Girls Robotic team also won the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge Award at the fourth annual Raw Science Film Festival,” said Roya Mahboob on twitter.
The group of teenagers attracted international attention last summer when they were briefly denied visas to the United States to take part in a robotics competitions.
This comes as three teenage members of the team won the Entrepreneurial Challenge at Robotex, which bills itself as “Europe’s biggest robotics festival” took place in the Estonian capital of Tallinn from November 24 to 26.
The team faced off against 3700 other competitors and 1600 robots in a series of competitions, including robot basketball games, races, and mazes.
