Afghanistan Independent Electoral Complaint Commission (IECC) announced at a press conference in Kabul that all votes cast in Kabul parliamentary elections as invalid.
“Considering the number of electoral crimes, widespread fraud in Kabul electoral zone, and the reports presented by media outlets and observers of the commission, the whole number of votes on Oct. 20 in Kabul is invalid,” said Alireza Rohani, a spokesman for IECC on Thursday.
According to him, some high-ranking electoral commission officials will also be prosecuted.
The votes cast in Badakhshan, Baghlan, and Maidan Wardak provinces will probably be declared invalid as well.
