Afghan presidential election campaign officially began on Sunday 28 July and will continue for two months as 18 candidates are competing to take the power.
The cost of the presidential elections is estimated at $ 149 million, and the Afghan government pays $ 90 million. The international community provides $ 59 million, of which $ 29 million is contributed by the United States.
The election commission announced that more than 9 million people have signed up for the presidential election, adding that it has removed more than 400 people from the voter list due to fake identities.
“Some 9.6 million eligible voters, including 33 percent female, would participate in the vote,” deputy spokesman for election commission Abdulaziz Ibrahimi said.
According to electoral Commission officials, there are 7,385 polling centers, but the government can provide the security for 5388 polling centers, which means that 2,000 voting centers will be blocked due to insecurity on the election day.
The electoral complaint commission announced during a press conference on Saturday that the commission is ready to address electoral complaints.
