“The Afghan security and defense forces have taken measures to prevent smuggling and process of narcotics, in addition to fighting with terrorism and will continue their operations,” said M. Ashraf Ghani during a meeting with the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani in Kyrgyzstan.
According to a statement released by ARG, the heads of the two countries discussed expanding Afghanistan – Iran cooperation, regional consensus on peace, and the peace process with the axis of the Afghan government.

The two sides also stressed on accelerating the work of the two country’s joint committees.
“Our friendly relations are based on the interests of the nations and governments of both countries, international principles, and state to state relationships,” Hassan Rouhani said. adding that “Iran is ready to help the Afghan government-centered peace process.”

The Iranian president also said that his country will jointly work with the Afghan government to obviate drug problem.
“The Chabahar port is economically important for Iran, Afghanistan, and India, and we will work together to develop it,” he added.
