The district police commander Mohammad Halim Khanjar killed as a result of injuries taken in clashes with Taliban group late Saturday night in northern Balkh province.
“Char Bolok district police chief who was injured yesterday in clashes with armed Taliban, died last night in a hospital,” said Balkh police spokesperson Sherjan Durani.
“Taliban insurgents suffered heavy casualties as well,” Mr Durani added.
Meanwhile, provincial hospital officials say that the bodies of a local police commander along with seven injured people were transferred to the hospital from Char Bolok district on Saturday.
Clashes ongoing in Char Bolok district and other areas since several days ago.
