“Baloch nation is not minority in Afghanistan” was a glorious gathering launched by Baloch Council in capital Kabul on Thursday with the aim that no ethnic group, including Baloch nation, is not minority, and according to the Afghan constitution, all citizens enjoy the equal rights.

Country’s hot issues, including the election, peace process, security, the ethnic groups’ share in political leadership and power as well as the formation of alliances were raised in the gathering – which was held under the title of “Baloch is not minority in Afghanistan”.

Addressing the gathering, Nezamuddin Fetrat Baloch, the head of Baloch council in Afghanistan, said: “our country; Afghanistan which is a multi-ethnic groups state, is now in one of its most difficult historical stages, because today in this land, domination and ethnic monopolies, poverty, unemployment as well as ignoring the status of groups in the political interactions and the current system of the country, has brought the inhabitants of this land at the forefront of aberration.”

“Baloch Council of Afghanistan as a public platform and neutral movement works to save and preserve the country’s national, religious, historical, political, social and cultural values of the ethnic groups, living in the country. This movement considers unity, empathy, equality and social justice as an urgent necessity for a united, stable and developed Afghanistan, in order to achieve lasting peace and solidarity,” he added.
According to him, the great Baloch nation of Afghanistan has so far been neglected in the political and social equations. According to the constitution of the country, all ethnic groups are equal before the law; therefore, they must be equal in the power equations, social interactions, and the formation of alliances.

Meanwhile, Sayed Alireza Mahmoodi, the chairman of National Consensus and Change’s leadership council, said that according to the country’s constitution, the explicit religious doctrines and democracy, all people are equal.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Mahmoodi, who is an active political figure added: “no one in Afghanistan is a minority and majority, and Afghanistan is a country of different ethnicities, not majority and minority.”

Referring to the current status of the country, the chairman of the National Consensus and Change’s leadership council said: “peace process is a hot topic in the country, and should be transparent. The details of peace talks must be shared with the people of Afghanistan, and a conclusion should come out of the peace talks that all people can find themselves in the mirror. The peace process must go forward in a way so that the achievements and the constitution of the country are not sacrificed.”
Speaking about elections issue and the formation of electoral tickets, Mr Mahmoodi added that “other ethnic groups should not be used as a tool in the formation of electoral tickets, but all ethnic groups should be involved with the power interactions in the country.
