Some sources have revealed that M. Ashraf Ghani had offered $ 300 million bribes to the Finance minister in order to allocate funds from the national budget to the favored candidates of the government.
Former Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi unexpectedly resigned on 26 June and M. Hamayun Qayumi, an adviser on infrastructural affairs to Ashraf Ghani was appointed as the new Minister.

Some sources say that Eklil Hakimi resigned after rejecting Ashraf Ghani’s $ 300 million bribes to allocate part of the country’s budget for election.
According to the sources, president Ghani wanted to spend a huge amount of national budget on favorable candidates of the presidential palace that was rejected by Mr Hakimi.

Although Hakimi cited personal issues for his resignation, he had to step down as Finance Minister due to not accepting Mr Ghani’s offer.
