Bloody Kabul Night on Milad ul-Nabi Takes over 100 Victims
A ceremony celebrating the birth of prophet Muhammad in northern capital Kabul on Tuesday night turned into a bloody night for the residents of Kabul city as more than 50 were killed and over 88 others were wounded in a suicide attack.
A ceremony celebrating the birth of prophet Muhammad in northern capital Kabul on Tuesday night turned into a bloody night for the residents of Kabul city as more than 50 were killed and over 88 others were wounded in a suicide attack.
The victims included religious delegates from various parts of the country, invited by the Afghan Ulema Council to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad on Tuesday.
The authorities were struggling on Wednesday to identify the group behind the suicide bomb attack that killed at least 55 people attending the gathering.
The ministry of Public Health confirmed 55 were killed and 80 others were wounded during the attack.
The ministry of Interior affairs, however, said that 5o persons were killed or wounded.
The Interior Ministry spokesman told reporters that police have started their investigations which will share the number of victims after the investigation end.
Doctors at government and private hospitals struggled to assist the badly wounded victims, many burned beyond recognition.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the bloody attack.
Presidential press office condemned the attack and described the attack as enmity to Islam and prophet Muhammad.
