The UK ambassador to Kabul Nicholas Kay in a meeting with peace convoy members, launched a sit-in protest outside the British embassy in Kabul, reaffirmed support for direct talks between the US and Taliban group.
Nicholas Kay said he will put efforts to end the war in Afghanistan, saying there is a political resolution to the war in the country.
“Britain supports all efforts for inter-Afghan talks. It is a good work for anyone who talks on peace and anyone who is ready for talks with Taliban, bringing them to the negotiation table,” the UK ambassador said.

Meanwhile, the members of peace convoy consider the role of Britain in persuading Pakistan to drag Taliban to the negotiation table, asking the UK to pressure Pakistan not to meddle in the affairs of Afghanistan.
“till when should we wait and how many times can you express commitment to end the war?” Iqbal Khaibar, the head of the peace convoy asked British ambassador. But Nicholas Kay was silent for a while and said, he has no answer to this question.
“I do not have any response … we also want as much as you want to end the war sooner. I wish that the future ceasefire would have a peace deal, not a mere ceasefire. As a diplomat, I say we are closer to peace in 2007 than 2009,” the ambassador said.

The members of peace convoy launched a sit-in protest outside British embassy Friday in Kabul after ending their protests outside the Iranian embassy.
