Casualties of Oil tanker Blast in Salang Rise to 20 dead, 37 Injured
At least 20 people were killed and 37 more were injured after an oil tanker inside the Salang tunnel caught fire in Parwan province on Saturday night.
Parwan Security Command confirmed in a statement on Sunday afternoon that 20 people were killed and 37 more were injured during the incident.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Public Works Hamidullah Misbah said earlier today that as a result of an oil tanker explosion in Salang pass, at least 9 people were killed and more than 30 were injured.
The fire was extinguished but casualties may rise, he added.
Bakhtar News Agency says that the highway is currently open to traffic.
The explosion took place around 8:30 pm inside the Salang tunnel on Saturday night.
According to reports, the victims of this incident were all passengers.
