Continuation of Political Differences; the Bargaining Chip is with President Ghani!
President Ghani has the bargaining chip and he knows that his legal reputation will easily take the opponent off the field, but what seems has invited him for more patience against what is somehow a “political coup”; are the coronavirus crisis, the peace process, and a black-humor as “Islamic Emirate” against the Republic.

Following consultations and efforts to resolve political differences between President Ghani and Dr. Abdullah, many MPs and politicians, including former president Hamid Karzai and professor Sayyaf met with President Ghani, but it seems that the differences remain unsolved.
Aside from the official reports, some sources published issues, suggesting that the political differences were not addressed which shows President Ghani’s serious determination to implement what the law dictates.
Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, a jihadi figure, who has worked closely with Hamid Karzai to resolve the political disputes, wrote on his Facebook page that he had met with President Ghani, including Hamid Karzai, Mohammad Yunus Qanuni and Mohammad Karim Khalili, expressing hope that the outcome of such meetings would be good and reassuring.
“Yesterday, Mr. Karzai Saheb, Mr. Qanuni Saheb, Mr. Khalili Saheb, and Professor Sayyaf met with Dr. Sahib Mohammad Ashraf Ghani to discuss a series of efforts to resolve the current political tensions in the country. NSA Dr. Mohib and the presidential aide Dr. Fazli were also present at the meeting. May the Lord of the Universe (Allah) arrange a good and reassuring result for the meetings,” wrote Mr Sayyaf.
Professor Sayyaf’s Facebook post, along with efforts to resolve disputes, indicate that problems remain and the two sides have not softened. It is also understood that President Ghani is playing with the bargaining chip in the election and is not willing to give more concessions than what he has proposed.
President Ghani had previously offered Mr. Abdullah 40 percent of the cabinet as well as the head of the High Peace Council. Some sources recently said that the leadership of the Reconciliation Council had been offered to Mr. Abdullah too.
On Friday evening, President Ghani, in a meeting with members and the Board of Directors of the House of Representatives of the parliament, emphasized good governance and coordination among the three branches of government.
However, Nilofar Ibrahimi, an MP, wrote in a post, citing President Ghani: “Mr Ghani in the presence of MPs: you were recognized as the representatives of the people by the election commission’s bail, I have achieved the bail as the president of Afghanistan from the same election commission”.
The MPs met with President Ghani to mediate and resolve the political differences but faced with this argument.
The president’s statement means that he is legally a president, and if he gives concessions to the opposition, it is due to the critical situation of the country.

So far, tensions between the two sides have not been resolved through much mediation, but it is hoped that by understanding the current sensitive situation – the Coronavirus crisis and the peace process – national interests will take precedence over personal interests and disputes would end as soon as possible.
