Following an increase of concerns over the risk of installing stickers in National Identity card (Tazkiraz), the IEC chairman says is looking for solutions to this issue.

“The electoral commission’s technical staff work on this issue, if possible, the copy of Tazkira will be used in the registration process, and the sticker will also be installed on the copy of the Tazkiras,” said the IEC chairman Abdul Bade Sayyad.

“The most important concern of the Commission is that the use of a copy would increase the chance of fraud in the registration process,” he added.

The head of the election commission told Hasht-e Sobh newspaper that the commission’s staff began their work from 9 May. It will be decided on this issue soon.

This comes as the MPs and the people called on the election commission during the past weeks not to install a sticker on the ID cards of the voters. Currently, people go to registration centers with paper ID cards and these cards are marked for recognition.

A huge number of citizens do not register themselves for election due to the threat of Taliban; because the stickers on the Tazkira threaten their lives.
