Some Countries Trying to Destabilize Afghanistan – says Kharrazi

The chairman of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Sayed Kamal Kharrazi met with former president of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai late Monday in capital Kabul.



The chairman of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Sayed Kamal Kharrazi met with former president of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai late Monday in capital Kabul.
During the meeting, Kharrazi considered Afghanistan’s stability and security a priority for Iran.
“Unfortunately, some influential countries in Afghanistan seek a destabilization strategy in the country, and even help strengthening terror groups including Daesh (ISIL/ISIS),” Mr Kharrazi said.

The Iranian top official emphasized on unity among the ethnics and parties of Afghanistan.
“The emphasis on national unity in the two elections facing Afghanistan can play a key role in solving the problems of Afghanistan and help to stabilize the country,” he added.

Former president of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai Meanwhile said: “For nearly 40 years, the people of Afghanistan have been in war and have suffered tragedies, but foreigners have not been able to bring peace to this land so far.”
“The problem of Afghanistan would not be resolved without the cooperation of neighbors,” he added. “The people of Afghanistan want the election to be held without the interference of influential powers in Afghanistan.”

Sayed Kamal Kharrazi had previously met with President Ashraf Ghani and country’s foreign minister Salahuddin Rabbani.
