Addressing a gathering in the Independent Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Kabul on Wednesday, president Ghani’s special envoy for regional consensus on peace said that Loya Jirga will be held on 17 March 2019 and will continue for three days.
“The Loya Jirga will be held on 17 March and will continue for three days,” he said. adding that “our values and red lines in negotiations with the Taliban group will be discussed”.
According to him, the role of women will be 30 percent both from capital and provinces when it will be held.
“Majority of the country’s politicians have agreed that US-Taliban talks should be preliminary stages, but not be the final talks,” he underlined. “Talks between the Taliban and the government have not started yet, there are obstacles and challenges and there are options to remove these obstacles. One is military option, second is regional encouragement and third is the peace talks,” he added.
