Election observatory entities now say that the commission’s decision is against the electoral law. According to the limited time available to advance the election process, the commission will face a problem.
“To solve the problem of Ghazni province, the election commission has decided to divide the province into three zones,” said Hafizullah Hashimi, a commissioner at the election commission.
According to him, this process will pave the way for all to join the elections, specially those who protest against the election process in the province.
In the previous parliamentary election in Ghazni province, 11 representatives from one ethnic group could make way at the parliament and other ethnic groups had not had a representative at the parliament due to insecurity in some districts of the province.
However, the electoral observatory entities say that although this decision will give a positive response to protestors in the province, it is against the electoral law.
According to the FEFA Executive officer Yousuf Rashid, the article 36 of the Electoral Law stipulates that polling districts must be finalized 180-day ahead of election day.
