Hamida Barmaki, political science, and law professor was killed along with her husband and four children as a result of a suicide attack in Kabul’s Wazir Akbarkhan area in 1389 (solar year). Hezb-e Islami led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar claimed the responsibility of the assault.
After seven years from the death of Hamida Barmaki, “Hunarsalar” artist group now painted the image of Mrs. Barmaki in front of Hekmatyar’s house to mark the 8th March – the international women’s solidarity – with the slogan of “remember the flight!”
Omid Sharifi, the director of the art painting group, said on Sunday that the picture was painted in front of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s house as the Hekmatyar party is responsible for the murder of Mrs. Barmaki and her family.
“I wanted this painting to be in front of the house of this person (Gulbuddin Hekmatyar) so that every time he passes through, at least his conscience will be harassed and not easily fall asleep,” he added, “The purpose is to awaken the conscience of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar so that he can remember his mistakes every day by seeing this picture.”
Hamida Barmaki along with her husband and four children went shopping in Wazir Akbarkhan area in 1389 and their bodies returned home as a result of a suicide attack.
