The check posts were in Shewan, Garani and Aab Khormay areas of Bala Blook district in Farah province.
According to some sources, over 30 members of the security forces were killed in the clashes.
Mohibullah, a spokesman for the provincial police chief said there were also clashes in Posht-e koh district over-night and that both security forces and Taliban sustained casualties.
Farah city residents, meanwhile, confirmed that Taliban fighters were seen on the streets of the provincial capital on Thursday night.
