First Afghan Export Cargo to Transit to India via Chabahar Port
The first trilateral meeting between Afghanistan, India and Iran of the Coordination Council of the Chabahar Agreement took place on October 22 in Tehran.
Detailed discussions were held between the three sides on full operationalisation of the trilateral agreement for international transit and transport through Chabahar Port.
The second coordination council of the Chabahar agreement will be held in India.
According to the chairman of the Iranian shipping organization, the pursuit of the implementation of the Chabahar agreement can help to improve the transportation and trade between the three countries as Afghanistan, Iran and India have a key role in developing trade and transit in the region.
Meanwhile, the Afghan trade and transit delegation during a recent visit to the Chabahar port, said that based on the new agreements between the Minister of Transport of the country with the Minister of Road and Urban Development of Iran, the export of Afghan goods will also start via Chabahar port.
Accordingly, it is expected that the first Afghan export cargo will be transited to India through Chabahar within the next three months.
